MORA 2012 Awards Application

Nomination Deadline: July 30, 2012

MORA Awards Committee is seeking nominations for our Annual Recycling Awards. Each year, MORA recognizes outstanding recycling and waste reduction efforts of individuals and organizations in Missouri. Award winners will be recognized during the annual conference at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac in St. Louis on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 during the awards banquet.

This year we are pleased to add a category to recognize our partnership with the Composting and Organics Association of Missouri (COAM) for the 2012 Annual Conference.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for 2012 Outstanding Achievement Awards

Each year the Missouri Waste Control Coalition presents its Outstanding Achievement Awards during its annual conference. This year the conference will be held June 17-19, 2012 at the Lodge of Four Seasons, Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. The award presentations will take place on Monday, June 18 during lunch.

Eligibility: is open to any business both for profit and non-profit, industry, government entity or individual, citizens group, and solid waste operation located within the State of Missouri.

Application: Describe in 500 words or fewer on the form below how the nominated project meets the criteria established in its category. Please provide a photo of the project and/or the project team to mwcc@sbcglobal.net.

Categories for Outstanding Achievement

Environmental Innovation:
Projects that qualify for outstanding achievement in environmental innovation will demonstrate automation of an existing process or processes; will have derived an entirely new process/application not previously available; or will have utilized emerging technologies or any combination of the techniques listed in a way that produces enhanced performance both environmentally and economically, is sustainable and shows documented results both before and after implementation.

Environmental Stewardship:
Projects that qualify for achievement in environmental stewardship will demonstrate exceptional improvement, protection, and/or restoration of areas such watersheds, wild life or endangered species habitat, soil, water, or wastewater management practices, reduced pollutant emissions or consumption of natural resources with methods that are both environmentally and economically sustainable and shows documented results both before and after implementation.

Environmental Leadership:
Organizations that qualify for outstanding achievement in environmental leadership will have demonstrated exceptional leadership such as "first in state" to achieve required goals and/or implement new processes, achieve operational improvements such as reduced energy consumption, beyond the call of duty civic and/or community involvement, or successful facilitation of public/private partnerships which resulted in exceptional projects.

Lifetime Achievement Award:
This award is reserved for an individual for whom the MWCC Board of Directors identifies as having served the organization, environmental industry, a community, a government agency or state of Missouri in a truly special and unique way.
